Senior Controls Engineer

We are currently searching for a Senior Controls Engineer. This role is responsible for controls engineering support for highly automated button cell battery manufacturing lines and related process areas. Work with and lead cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and direct vendors and consultants during engineering projects
  • Lead controls portion of engineering projects, including scope definition, execution, I/O check out, functional verification and documentation
  • Design, plan, execute, and close controls improvement projects
  • Provide controls assistance to the Work Instruction authors to help compile information needed for operators and maintenance manuals
  • PLC programming
  • HMI programming
  • Electrical troubleshooting

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Ability to architect advance controls strategies to enable more reliable and faster automated solutions
  • High level of understanding of systems integration; ability to see the big picture
  • Able to manage and direct vendors and consultants
  • Develops and seeks out new technical knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, ISA, UL, etc.)
  • Self starter and ability to work with minimal to no direct supervision
  • Consistent attendance
  • Able to work independently and ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts
  • Goal oriented with the ability to meet firm deadlines

  • Able to multitask and work professionally in high stress environments

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • BSEE or BSICE, preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in machine controls design and engineering related to high volume, automated assembly, required
  • Previous experience with engineering drawings and documentation, preferred
  • Automation experience required

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access,) preferred
  • AutoCAD Electrical

  • Servo and stepper motor systems
